Collection: Celebrating Donovan Rall – South Africa Winemaker of the Year
Many of you will know that we’ve long been admirers – and friends – of South African winemaker Donovan Rall. So it’s with real pleasure that I can share the news that Donovan has been named Winemaker of the Year in Tim Atkin MW’s 2025 South Africa Report. His wines have always been exceptional value, utterly delicious in youth, and capable of ageing beautifully.
A new chapter for one of South Africa’s most exciting talents
Donovan has built his reputation as a true independent spirit – a winemaker who follows his instincts rather than the crowd. His move to a new cellar in Riebeek Kasteel has allowed him to refine his craft even further, while new vineyard acquisitions and long-term partnerships across the Cape are yielding truly remarkable fruit. From elegant Syrah to expressive Chenin Blanc, each wine continues to show the precision, texture and energy that define his style.

As his profile rises and demand grows, Donovan’s wines are becoming increasingly sought-after – selling out almost immediately at the winery. We’re therefore thrilled to offer a limited allocation of his 2024 releases, along with the best-ever 2023 Rall Red. These are wines that capture both the evolution of a remarkable winemaker and the spirit of South Africa’s modern fine wine scene.
