Sin Reglas is the latest project from Bodega Sottano made by two friends Horatio (winegrower) and Adrecito (winemaker) bringing us high end, micro-vinified, single plot wines of great character.
The grapes are grown in the pricipal areas of:
Gualtallary, Tupungato - Over 1200 meters above sea level this is extreme grape growing which together with very poor soils produce grapes with strong colour and aromatics, high acidity and powerful tannins
El Peral - 1100 - 1200 m above sea level with a cold microclimate and poor soils. the wines from here tend to be well balanced and lots of fruit but less alcoholic than those from Gualtallary.
La Consulta - 900m above sea level and very cold giving very floral wines (in frost free years!) with soft tannins.
The wines are vinified in small (for Argentina) containers including oak barrels, 100l stainless steel and egg shaped fermentors. Each container is treated individually allowing for multiple profiles from single vineyards.
All the wines are non-vintage and with a total lack of rules the winemakers do exactly as they like hence the name Sin Reglas (without rules).
