El Enemigo

El Enemigo is a joint venture between Adrianna Catena, daughter of Nicolas Catena, and winemaker Alejandro Vigil, who also moonlights as Catena Zapata’s head winemaker. Founded in 2010, the vineyards are located in Luján de Cuyo, located at altitudes ranging between 900 and 1500 metres. “El Enemigo” which translates to “the enemy” is a nod to the internal battles they faced in the pursuit of excellence and to challenging the status quo. Hence their decision to initially focus on Cabernet Franc - they were vindicated when Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2013 was awarded 100 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and was again awarded 100 points for the 2019 vintage.
