Nestled along the fertile and lush lands of a territory that has always been dedicated to viticulture, Contesa’s 50 hectares of vineyards is set amongst the hills of Pescara.
Contesa has a south-east exposure, with considerable temperature range between day and night. Furthermore, its soils are at 250 meters above sea level - with a predominantly clayey composition and small calcareous percentage. Along with an integrated production that favours the balance and protection of the earth over plant protection, this all combines to provide an ideal seasonality.
Contesa's cellars are home to excellent barriques and barrels made from the finest Slovenian oak, as well as innovative steel tanks that carefully regulate temperatures, preserving the quality of the musts and reducing the oenological impact.
The espalier vineyards Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Trebbiano are bred with spurred cordon, while the vineyard at the lake in the lower part of the hill, kingdom of pecorino grapes, is bred in Guyot with high densities of plants per hectare and rather low yields to always guarantee the highest quality.
