Collection: Clos des Papes En Primeur 2023
Under winemaker Paul Vincent Avril, who trained at Château Mouton Rothschild, Clos des Papes has become one of the top domaines in the region. The estate produces two cuvées: Clos des Papes Rouge and Blanc. Certified organic since 2011, it employs strict berry selection and low yields. The wines are made with minimal intervention, including temperature-controlled fermentation, no filtration, and aging in old foudres to highlight the terroir.
Known for its early adoption of the Mourvèdre grape, the typical Clos des Papes wine is a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, with the remainder made up of other local varieties. The high Mourvèdre content gives the wine longevity and a need for aging.
