A single site Chenin Blanc from old bush vines grown on the Smuts Block rooted in the rocky, granite seam outcrops that surface rarely in the otherwise deep, sandy loams between Table Mountain and Paarl. Hand-harvested bush vine fruit naturally fermented back at the farm at Wildeberg. Has real energy and verve, ripe pear, apricot and peach with hints of orange, intense stony minerality and fresh acidity on the zesty finish. It's weighty yet so light on its feet, long and complex; a hint of nutty oak on the finish adding texture and interest, a wine that grows in the glass and very food friendly. This new 2021 is the best yet (fouth release).
