Caballo Loco - meaning 'Crazy Horse' in Spanish. The flagship brand of famed Chilean winery Valdivieso, Caballo Loco was named after one of their most eccentric winemakers, Jorge Coderch.
This is the second release of their white, a pretty unique solera blend.
The Caballo Loco Blanco No 2 is a non-vintage white wine from the Valdivieso winery in Chile. A base of Chardonnay from the Limarí Valley is blended with other varieties, including Moscatel from Itata and Semillon from Sagrada Familia, as well as Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. This wine is distinguished by its unconventional winemaking, which includes ageing a portion of the blend in old barrels for several years and a period of fermentation in clay amphorae. It delivers a profile of ripe stone fruit, citrus and a delicate nutty character with a distinctive saline minerality.
