"The 2022 Riesling Brand Grand Cru is a wine first made in 2017 from around 65year-old vines in the Oberer Eichberg parcel of the Brand. The nose is citric and stony, alive with the clarity of citrus, with dried and fresh lemon taking turns to dazzle. More air brings a creamy smile of apricot. The palate is unmitigated. It wants to be austere, but that lovely apricot notion keeps reminding us of ripeness with lovely charm, yet none of the directness and nakedness of the stone goes unnoticed. 2 parcels of 1.85 ha total in the Grand Cru Brand in Turckheim. Warm terroir, facing South. The first parcel has 60+ year old vines and is pure granite soil. The second parcel is made of granite, marl and limestone subsoil.
The nose is precise and reveals scents of white flowers and exotic fruits. The palate is full, but remains structured by a beautiful acidity. The wine reveals a bright saline sensation. Aromas of citrus fruits and aromatic herbs like lemongrass, impression of verticality and linear wine but also powerful: these are the two faces of Brand.
