Vineyards have existed around Castell de la Bleda for more than 2,000 years, a winegrowing enclave in the heart of Penedes, the region Familia Torres calls home Since the early 1980s, Familia Torres have been committed to the recovery of ancestral varieties to help restore the viticultural heritage of Catalonia while seeking solutions to combat climate change. The ancestral variety Moneu, which is highly resistant to high temperatures and drought has been added to a blend Tempranillo and Garnacha to create a light and fragrant red wine.
This is a delicious new organic red from the well known Torres winery. Approximately 60% of the wine was fermented in second-fill barrels for 10 months, the rest in stainless steel. The Moneu variety was partially aged in vats and amphorae. It's a lovely juicy, fresh style of red. Red berry and cherry fruits with delicate herb and spice and a tasty creamy finish. Sure to be a versatile food wine.
