A Rhône inspired white which takes the richly textured Roussanne and blends with the crisp, green apple and citrus of Grenache Blanc to create a wine of real balance and complexity. Hand-picked Roussanne from Sellicks Hill, biodynamic Grenache Blanc from the Riverland. Both varieties are hand picked and fermented separately. Roussanne is whole bunch pressed, lightly settled and wild fermented in French oak. Grenache is oxidatively handled prior to wild ferment in barrel. The two components blend prior to bottling.
A richly textured white wine with creamy, aromatic and exotic notes from Roussanne and more vibrant, green apple from Grenache. The end result is a wine so versatile, complex yet so moreish, lovely creamy texture.
"The 2023 Walking With Kings Roussanne Grenache Blanc is delicious. It is waxy and floral, and there is texture on the palate that spools out through the finish, with spring flowers, Stefanotis, or jasmine, beeswax, white tea, brine, scratched citrus, sourdough crust, crushed almonds and the faintest suggestion of scraped vanilla pod. The Roussanne was barrel fermented, and this exacerbates the already natural width and weave of the variety, adding a base of density and physical interaction with the wine. This is a ripper. It puts the focus on McLaren Vale's ability to eloquently express Southern Rhône white varieties. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." 94pts Erin Larkin The Wine Advocate
