The Corriente is a blend of estate and locally purchased grapes coming primarily from growers that farm around the Lanciego and Vinaspre villages in Rioja Alavesa at altitudes between 480 and 650 metres. The soils are all calcareous, mostly stony and with a high presence of sandstone and marl clays.
The Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in 65 to 85 hectolitre cement tanks. The wine is then aged for just under a year in a combination of larger oak foudres and barriques of different ages and origins. As befits its name (corriente = current) the wine is released soon after bottling to retain its vibrant and expressive fruit and approachable and rewarding style. Fragrant wine with aromas of dark fruit and spices, full flavor with soft tannin and a balanced, long aftertaste.
