"The second Rosso could not be more different from the Fossacolle version. San Polo is pale, bright, and resonant in the glass. It is perfumed, ethereal and hauntingly refreshing, and with a 13.5% alcohol framework, it is a more fleet-footed wine than the previous wine, too. With sour cherry fruit and a lean, rakish finish, this wine shows that Montalcino wines do not have to be too muscular or oak-soaked. By contrast, they can be shimmeringly pretty and refined."
