Due Early April 2025
This elegant red is sourced from a tiny, 1.3-hectare plot of 50-year-old bush vine Arcos; a lesser-known red grape that thrives in the vineyards of Valencia. It is a pure, detailed expression with flavours of cherry, Campari, sweet spice and a delightfully salty note on the finish. Complex and sure to be long-lived.
"My favorite of the range is the aromatic, perfumed, floral, expressive and elegant red 2023 Casalabor, a varietal Arcos in a slightly cooler (or less warm) year with a little more rain that resulted in a fresher wine. It was produced with grapes from 1.3 hectares of 50-year-old vines planted at 690 meters above sea level in Fontanars dels Alforins on very white soils. It fermented in small stainless steel vats with 50% full clusters and 21 days of maceration and matured in used 500-liter barrels and concrete vats for 10 months. It's very pure, balanced and symmetric, with pungent flavors of violets, spices and earth, with very fine, sandy tannins. 1,500 bottles were filled in August 2024." 96 pts Luis Gutiérrez The Wine Advocate
