The 2021 Reserva Old Vines (average age of 70 years) was aged for 16 to 18 months, depending on vineyard plots, in 65% new (85% French) oak. An old vine field blend- so, many varieties co-planted in old vineyards harvested together- as was the case back in the day! This represents 38 of Crasto's 42 plots and/or small vineyards of old vines, Intense and lifted aromas of cigar box, tobacco leaf, spices, cedar and vanilla, combined with fresh dark berries and ripe plums. A rich, full and round palate of great balance, displaying rich Douro berry fruit characters and a delicious savoury edge, with supple tannins and a long finish. Lovely now, for sure will age well too.
