The first fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks. Once completed, the wine was racked and underwent full malolactic fermentation. Rare Millésime 2013 marries 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir grapes in a blend of 11 crus. The wine was kept on its lees for eight years before disgorgement, when a dosage of 9g/l was added.
Intensely bright and light gold in colour, the Rare Millésime 2013 opens with aromas of white flowers, kiwi and nuances of black tea. The vibrant citrus flavours give way to notes of meringue and blood orange with Rare Champagne’s signature tropical minerality. Smoky aromatics are punctuated by fresh acidity, contributing to a complex and elegant Champagne.

Rare Champagne, Millésime 2013, France 98 points
After the stellar 2008, expectations were sky high for the 2013 Rare, a similarly profiled year of brisk acidity and superb fruit quality. And Rare delivers. The nose is so detailed, shining with the brightest fruit and coming with the most refined toasty exuberance. The fruit is predominantly exotic, with fresh pineapple and peach candies. The palate is as silky as it gets, with a lovely impression of lightness despite the fine intensity. Truly a seamless and elegant whole; it is easy to predict a long life for this classy charmer."
