"The 2023 Pinot Noir Running Fence Vineyard Cuvée Catherine shows a bit of youthful reduction and can benefit from decanting if opening now. Umami wet earth, dashi, brine, cranberries, and pomegranate all emerge. Medium-bodied, it is bright and salty with refreshing lift and spice. Drink over the coming 20 or more years. Drink 2026-2048. Thirty percent new oak is the highest amount used here, and all of these wines from Occidental benefit from air." 98+pts Audrey Frick Jebdunnuck.com
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Running Fence Vineyard Cuvée Catherine unfurls its detailed aromas slowly, segueing dramatically from cranberry and pomegranate to mixed tea leaves, orange peel, Angostura bitters, woodsmoke and saline. The medium-bodied palate is more open at this stage, offering concentrated, complex flavors. It has a luxurious, suede-like texture, tense and structuring acidity and a very long, nuanced finish. It gets better and better with air and should be long lived in the cellar." 96+ Erin Brooks The Wine Advocate
