Sourced from Hazel’s Vineyard—our southernmost estate site—and fruit from our trusted grower at Celestial Bay, this blend brings together two distinct expressions of Margaret River.
Whole berry fermentation in concrete was used to preserve aromatics and lift perfume. Gentle extraction saw each batch spend two to three weeks on skins before pressing to French oak barriques (20% new). After 14 months in barrel, parcels were blended and bottled in Spring 2023.
48% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit VerdotÂ
"The 2022 BDX comprises a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The bouquet is succulent and saturated in aroma, with cassis and raspberry, pink peppercorn, bramble, pencil shaving and nori. On the palate, the wine is dusty and svelte, and the tannins are pervasive, fine and chewy. A wonderful wine. Both savory and composed at this early stage, but it has plenty of chutzpah for the years ahead. Great! 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." 95pts Erin Larkin The Wine Advocate
