We have got a small parcel of this sought-after Pinot Noir. These notes are from Jessica Hutchinson, the MD of the Vindependents buying group we belong to:
"I first met Maxime Dubuet-Boillot when he was helping Gilles Remoriquet with the winemaking in Nuits-St-Georges. I was passing through Burgundy on my way to the Auvernes looking for well priced Pinot Noir. Maxime was interested in this potential market and promptly bought some land in Saint-Marie La Blanche and planted it with Pinot Noir!
Ste-Marie is just outside the limits of AOP Bourgogne and used to be part of the appellation before the Powers That Be decided that too much Burgundy was being produced and reduced the area (good foresight there!).
Anyway, Maxime has planted the vines and carried out the vinification just as he would were it inside the appellation and apart from the price not being what I was looking for, he has produced a really good wine!
Jancis Robinson MW liked it too:
"I loved his 2020 IGP. Very modern, very wine bar....
Very young herbal tamarind aromas. Pure wine bar stuff – tastes natural in a good way. Far from complex but satisfyingly vigorous. Really lively. But note short drinking window. Good, confident sign-off on the finish. 12%
Drink 2021 – 2023 16.5"
This is for the 2020 we have just got 30 bottles of the 2022
