Old vines grown in the warm Mediterranean sunshine of the Languedoc, tempered by the altitude and the cooler nights thanks to elevation and proximity to the Pyrenees; ideal conditions for longer, slower ripening which results in a finer profile than Malbec grown in warmer climates. This old vine Malbec was sourced from the wild mountain landscape of the Aude and just a ‘drop’ of Malbec from the lower hills of Minervois is also added.
Notes of mulberry and underlying redcurrant and blackcurrant aromas. Plum, and red-fruit flavours backed by a touch of chocolate truffle richness. It's juicy and quite elegant, with good structure and supple tannins. Pretty versatile food wine too.
