Delicious new Malvasia, tiny production.
"..from the zone of La Font de la Figuera, the 2021 Lafont, from what seems like a cool and very good vintage in the zone at 700 to 720 meters in altitude. It's 100% Malvasía with 11.8% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity (pH 3.03 and 6.2 grams of acidity). The full clusters were pressed directly and the juice let to settle for 12 hours and then fermented in barrel, where it matured for six months with lees. It's austere (it's not the aromatic Malvasía, it's the Malvasía Riojana/Alarije/Subirat Parent), with fennel and aniseed notes and with a spicy and smoky twist. It's sapid, tasty, chalky, vibrant and with a saline touch in the finish. Revert thinks 2021 is the finest vintage he has seen in the zone, cooler than the classical Mediterranean 2020. 2,000 bottles produced. This is the only wine not yet certified organic, but it's in process..." 93 pts Luis Gutierrez The Wine Advocate
This is the new 2022, very similar production and style.
