Upon arrival at the winery the grapes were fermented in small, open top stainless-steel tanks for eight days with twice daily pump overs. Following this, maturation lasted 15 months in fine-grained French oak - 30% in a new 500 litre puncheon and the balance in seasoned hogsheads.
I tried this recently and was absolutely blown away, floral, perfumed and fresh. Fabulous intense berry fruits, spice, pepper, meaty notes, integrated oak and a long finish. Textural, silky and i thought absolutely superb.
Drunk again last night for my Dad's 80th and it was a star performing wine amongst many top bottles. Brilliant!! Mourvedre/Mataro gets no better than this.
