The wines are coming direct from Jaboulet so in pristine condition.
La Chapelle is always a blend of the most rocky Syrah parcels on the hill: Les Bessards, Le Méal, Les Rocoules, and Greffieux, where the vines range from 40 to 100 years old. The perfect balance and depth of La Chapelle can only be found in the final blend of the origins, thus revealing the wine’s own genius. Each terroir brings its aromatic characteristics, as well as the elegance of the tannin structures, which give this wine an exceptional aging potential. 2009 is a legendary vintage, expressing the power and harmony of a fully mature Hermitage, with all the signature markers of La Chapelle. The nose reveals aromas of black fruit, particularly blackberries, layered with a fine mineral edge that carries through to the palate.
“It will be thrilling to follow the 2009 and 2010 la Chapelles over the coming 40-50 years. Much more sexy, voluptuous and layered than the 2010, the 2009 Hermitage la Chapelle offers sensational levels of extract and concentration to go with notes of cassis, black raspberries, coffee bean, toasted bread and sweet spice. Beautifully pure, layered, and yet massively endowed, with sweet tannin, it will be drinkable at an earlier age than the 2010, but I suspect will be just as long lived. It's a true tour de force in Hermitage!” 98 points, Jeb Dunnuck for The Wine Advocate
