97 Points, Tim Atkin – Best Red Blend of the Year 2025
'As Bravas is my favourite red in the El Enemigo portfolio and one of Argentina’s wines of the year. Made with whole bunches of co-fermented Malbec and 5% Semillon from El Cepillo, it’s very much a cooler climate Uco Valley style from Alejandro Vigil, with aromas of laurel, rose petal and thyme, filigree tannins, barely a whisper of oak and a palate of plum, redcurrant, white pepper and wild strawberry. Heavenly.'

'The 2017 As Bravas, crafted with 95% Malbec and 5% Sémillon from El Cepillo, was designed to explore how Malbec might develop with extensive aging in foudres, similar to some Rioja reds. It started with the challenging 2017 vintage, followed by an impressive 64 months in used barrels, resulting in a delicate, stripped-down wine. Well-balanced, it features subtle wood notes, black fruit and a hint of balsamic. The palate is taut with fine acidity, compact structure and remarkable length, gaining body over time in the glass. The extended aging contributes to the balanced tannins and silky texture—a red of exceptional balance and finesse.'

'Grown at high altitude in the cool-climate region, the 2017 Malbec As Bravas Gualtallary is made similarly to its cousin from El Cepillo, aged 64 months in foudre for gradual oxidation. Fermented 50% whole-cluster, it's salty, lengthy, and mineral-driven, like an iron fist in its grasp of tannin and intensity, powerful yet possessed of a graceful structure. Continue aging 15-18 years.'
