The magnetic power of La Faraona is something very difficult to describe. Approaching the nose is almost like that moment waiting on a runway, just as the engines kick in for take off. Fine, pure aromas conveying mineral power and intensity are all wrapped up in a bubble of weightlessness, defying gravity. Super-fine wild strawberries then emerge with a black cherry depth and a sensational perfume of wild heather on wet rocks. The perfume is both wild thyme herbal and lilac floral. It is just sensational and so full of energy.
Gosh, this wine just makes your palate fly! The aromatic herbal lift cuts through everything else, with flavours now more like an infusion of raspberry tea, camomile, even a hint of verbena. That lift just courses through your olfactory senses and pervading the lungs. The palate then becomes like pure slate again with that indescribably intense, mineral focus and precision. The tannins are ultra-precise and the wine moves to just a hint of savoury on the compelling, uplifting, slate-pure, epic finish. Wow. Drink 2029 to 2050.
