Gomez Cruzado's Blanco '2 Ano' is a Burgundian style which reflects the land, rather than purely varietal expression. The resulting wine has character and weight whilst retaining fresh acidity and appealing aromatics. A blend of Viura and Tempranillo Blanco and half is aged in new untoasted French oak for 5 months and half in concrete tank.
The palate is beautifully textured, with an almost exotic note, evident yet perfectly integrated oak and ripe fruit. Complex and with a long toasty, citrus finish. Complex and long yet fresh too. Great with rice dishes, chicken, and creamy pasta.
"The pale white 2022 Blanco 2º Año was produced with 70% Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and 2.5% each Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía Riojana. It matured in concrete (two-thirds) and untoasted barrels with the lees, recovering the old tradition to sell whites in their second year. It's clean, aromatic and expressive, with lightness and freshness, 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.65 and mellow acidity. 46,891 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2023." 91+ Luis Gutiérrez The Wine Advocate
