Marrone - Langhe DOC Arneis Tre Fie 2025 is made from grapes from vines in La Morra in the Langhe del Barolo that are over 40 years old.
The grapes are gently pressed and the must is in contact with the grape skins for a few hours. The wine spends 7 months on lees in tank. The result is a very well-structured wine, its weighty and tangy at the same time. "Tre Fie" means "Three daughters" in Piedmontese dialect.
" A few hours of skin contact.
Scent of grapefruit peel, cumin and hawthorn blossom. With a silky underlay of almond cream framing the bright-white citrus, it’s a wine that starts by lulling me with a slow, low hum of nonchalance. Then a cool prickle, a cool heat, like green Sichuan pepper, like fennel seeds. Then it’s cold green apple. Cobnuts. Chicory leaf. Fennel pollen. Beautiful rounded sweetness but very much shaped by an inner leaf-vein-like network of bitterness. Sommeliers, line up. You need this wine. Tamlyn Currin 17pts Jancisrobinson.com
(note on 2024, i reckon the 2025 is a touch better, similar though. )
