Fabulous Sauvignon from Framingham. This is not your classic Marlborough Savvy! The grapes underwent different vinifications. A portion of the grapes were whole bunch pressed and the other portion underwent skin contact before pressing. After settling the must went into old oak barriques and puncheons (90%) and stainless-steel tanks (10%). Fermentation started spontaneously, and the wine was left on its lees for nine months before bottling. Really expressive with bright tangerine and grapefruit aromas and underlying rich pear and apple notes. The palate is fresh and textural, full of stone fruit and savoury complexity, herbaceous with smoky notes too. Powerful yet elegant, with great finesse. Great food wine - think fish, especially smoked, but i reckon pretty versatile with soups, risotto's, creamy pasta etc.
