The wine is deep ruby red in colour, with perfumes of sour cherry and plums leading to notes of leather and tobacco. It has great depth of flavour, with juicy fruit and supple tannins, giving way to a silky-smooth texture. It has a great structure and finishes with a fine mineral note. Great concentration and finesse, lovely now with some spiced lamb brochettes but the best is yet to come!
"Fontodi’s estate wine, even with three years under its belt, is still a baby. This wine is the slowest-moving and most deliberate in this collection, and it is crammed full of elite, infinitely detailed Sangiovese. While the oak has been absorbed, I can sense the girders of control that maintain the scale and grandeur of this wine’s cathedral of flavour. This is the second wine (with Fèlsina), which ought not to be opened for a couple of years, and when you do, you will experience chapters of knowledge, understanding and skill in the glass!"
