Typical of our Orchard Block wines this release offers a deep layered drinking experience. An initial nose of dried fruity berries is followed by luxurious dark fruit. Secondary spiced, toasted biscuit aromas betray the 18-months this wine spent in barrel.
On the palate it is velvety with a well-balanced tannic mouthfeel. Darker plummy flavours come to the forefront with a hint of berry fruit and gentle oaky spice. The longer, careful vinification process is expressed in this delicious wine with texture, complexity and panache. Drinking well now but will cellar well for at least a decade.
“It's seductively expressed on the nose with sweet cherry, clove, star anise, porcini and assorted nut aromas. The palate exhibits excellent concentration and persistency, together with plush texture and layers of silky tannins, finishing impressively long and gratifying. At its best: now to 2036.”
