A cracking wine from this well known winery in Galicia. This is around 90% Mencia and the rest a smorgasbord blend of local varieties grown at different altitudes, on different soils etc. Fermented with indigenous wild yeasts in large old oak and then transferred to 300 litre barriques where it aged for 12 months and then blended and into large oak vats before bottling. Perfect with some new season lamb cutlets cooked on a bbq. Berry fruits and wild herbs on the nose with some spice and just a hint of oak. Still really fresh on the palate again the berries and herbs with a touch of meat, pan juices almost, creamy oak and spice, good acidity and soft tannins. Superb and a great value for the complexity.
