A delicious, bright, fresh unoaked Rioja from the exceptional Artuke winery. A small amount of the white Viura is added to the Tempranillo, and this makes the wine that bit more perfumed and juicy. Partial carbonic maceration is used to promote the bright primary fruitiness of the Tempranillo, red berry and cherry. It's bright and fresh with a real mouthwatering finish. Some tannin on the finish gives the wine some structure and balance, and its oh so drinkable! The new 2023 might be even better than the 2022!
"The Artuke, named after their village in Baños de Ebro, contains some 5% Viura grapes and has a moderate 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.5. It's light and fresh, aromatic and floral, open and expressive, quite harmonious for its young age. It was bottled after three to six months in concrete. It's a textbook example of the category and among my favorite carbonic-maceration reds from Rioja year after year. It's velvety and juicy, soft and tasty. 80,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in late December 2023." 92 pts Luis Gutiérrez The Wine Advocate
