Ciro 'Liber Pater' Ippolito 1845 Rosso Classico Superiore 2020

From Calabria and the oddly named Rosso Classico Superiore DOC. Its made largely from the Gaglioppo variety. This is from the foot at the bottom of Italy and is characterful and very tasty !

Bright cherry and plum on a quite overtly fruity nose. Similar on the palate, bright with appealing red fruits, a hint of almond too, it has good acidity that makes it really food friendly and was superb with some slow cooked roast pork this evening.
