Delicious red from the brilliant Celler del Roure winery in Moixent, Valencia. Aged in clay amphora for c5 months.
‘"The 2024 Vermell has as subtle reduction that makes it more serious, but it's still juicy, fresh and fine-boned. This changed a lot when they stopped using Garnacha Tintorera in the blend; it's now 70% Mandó and 30% Arcos, with 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 5.25 grams of acidity. This is more serious, rounder than the 2023, with a different profile, a little more structured, which shows a little the character of the year. The wine has grown up. And it's a bargain. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2025." 93pts Luis Gutiérrez The Wine Advocate
This new 2024 is singing, have drunk it several times in Spain and it's delicious. A touch riper than the last couple of vintages which seems to have really highlighted the bright fruit. It's a lovely fresh, perfumed red, great served with a slight chill. Red cherry and berry fruits are the main focus with a touch of spice, it's all quite crunchy and easy drinking. A Valencian Beaujolais almost! Great with fish like tuna through to red meats too. Good with lightly spiced Asian dishes too.
