The single-vineyard Monastrell 2020 Alt de les Flors is from vines planted in 1946 on white soils. It has a floral quality intermixed with varietal notes of tree bark, aromatic herbs and berries. It's pretty plush and bright with dark berry fruits. A with all the Can Leandro wines, its naturally fermented, a fair amount of whole bunch - soaking and then fermentation. Has a very long time macerating on the skins, but all gentle so not too tannic.-This takes place with 40% of the stems, at 26ºC, in 500 litre oak casks for 43 days with gentle pigeage. The wine then spends 10 months in 600 litre French oak before bottling and release. This is seriously good, structured Monastrell that can be drunk now or kept.
