"Deep golden amber colour. Heady, rich, oloroso-like nose of roasted pecans glazed in orange syrup and flambéed with Grand Marnier. Extraordinary tango of acidity and sweetness and richness: caramel popcorn, fudge, spiced cashews, candied pecans, peanut butter, maple syrup, dried apricots, dried orange peel, inset, each layer, by a taut, shimmering, paper-thin lamina of citrus. It rises crescendo in the mouth, amplifies slowly out of the darkness, like the sounds of one... two... three... a bank of violins, the sound rising from the vault... To call a wine like this complex is tautology. I felt extraordinarily privileged to be tasting bottle number 1 out of 300 – silly as that might sound. Sometimes there are no words.
