"Interestingly, there is far more oak on the nose and palate on the 2016 than there is on the 2019 – a change in winemaking? This doesn't have the pulsing purity of the 2019 but the tannins are more textured, fissured; ancient-tree-bark-like and fragrant. Like the 2019, the fruit is dark cherry and sumptuous, with ripe-raspberry glints. A hint of cigar. More port-like in fruit profile (although not in structure – far too silk-bed-sheets for that!), this would be rather gorgeous with parmesan or blue-cheese beignets.
