Produced from 15-30 year old Garnacha vines from selected vineyards at 500-600m altitude and 10 year old Syrah vines. The poor stony, sandy soils, low night-time temperatures and moderate yields give grapes with excellent colour, extract and acidity. Fermented at 22-25C with 15 days maceration followed by 3 months maturation in French oak barriques (new or 2nd year). This is a real step up from the Borsao Seleccion, in terms of richness and body. Packed full of brambly fruit with lots of smoky bacon and creamy oak. Plain chocolate too on the long smooth finish. Would make a really good barbecue wine for the stronger flavoured foods. A lot of wine for your money !
