A 'joven' style Mencia. From 50 year old vines, aged on lees for 2 months, lightly oaked and bottled fairly early. Red berry fruits on the nose, in a quite typical meaty, savoury way, some dried herb. Bright and fresh, deep wild strawberry leading to plum with hints of creamy oak too, quite meaty and savoury with spice and herb on the finish. The fruit is bright and makes the wine quite user friendly, serve with a light chill, it was a decent match to schnitzel tonight! Better with chorizo, paella and such like, even burgers.
