Well known NZ winemaker Matt Thomson has finally released some wines under his own label. After years of making wine for other people, it's fair to say Matt know his way around. All his initial releases have had much acclaim. This single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Holdaway vineyard at Dillons Point – Matt Thomson’s favourite sub-region for this variety. Wild yeast and partial barrel fermentation, this is a wonderfully complex wine, mandarin, gooseberry, guava with smoky notes and a touch of oak. Changes in the glass making it interesting and complex.
"The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Abstract Three Rows is a pure and sophisticated wine from, true to its name, three rows of a dry farmed parcel. It is bright and tangy yet savory. The fruit is pure and delicate, like a cloud. It is transparent and yet expansive in the mouth, having no heaviness. Light honey, nectarine, musky boxwood and oatmeal flavors abound with a light creamy character. Sensitive Sauvignon." 96 points Rebecca Gibb MW Vinous
