We’re closing October in style with an evening in the company of Norrel Robertson MW — aka El Escocés Volante (“The Flying Scotsman”). Norrel is one of the most engaging speakers in wine, and his deep love for Spain’s rugged Calatayud region shines through every bottle.
Wednesday 29th October, 7.15pm – Tickets £50 (includes tapas)
After travelling the world — from Portugal to New Zealand — Norrel settled in Aragón in 2003, drawn by the sheer quality of old-vine Garnacha. His mission began with rescuing abandoned vineyards and has grown into a 40-hectare estate of vines aged between 50 and 115 years, alongside other native grapes like Mazuelo, Moristel, Garnacha Gris, Macabeo, and Provechón.
Working with high-altitude plots (650–1,000 metres above sea level) and local growers who share his vision, Norrel produces wines of remarkable concentration, freshness, and authenticity. We’ll taste a hand-picked selection that showcases both Garnacha’s depth and the region’s diversity.
To complement the wines, we’ll serve a selection of Spanish tapas throughout the evening. Expect an evening full of rich flavours, warm stories, and wines that tell the tale of one of Spain’s most exciting winemaking regions — in the company of one of its most passionate champions.
