Trentino sits just south of Alto Adige along the Adige river valley, sharing some of its neighbour's Alpine character but with a slightly warmer, broader valley floor. It's a major source of Italian traditional-method sparkling wine (Trento DOC), made largely from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, alongside fresh whites and the local Teroldego, a deeply coloured red grape largely unique to the region.
