The Mâconnais sits at the southern end of Burgundy, warmer and more gently rolling than the famous Côte d'Or further north, and focused almost entirely on Chardonnay. Villages like Pouilly-Fuissé have built serious reputations of their own, but much of the region still offers some of Burgundy's best value — ripe, approachable white wine without the Côte d'Or's scarcity-driven pricing.
Key grapes: Chardonnay, Gamay
