Jura is a small region tucked between Burgundy and Switzerland, with a distinctive winemaking tradition largely unrelated to its neighbours. Its most famous wine, Vin Jaune, is made from Savagnin aged under a layer of flor yeast for over six years — similar in principle to Sherry — producing a nutty, intensely savoury wine. Away from that speciality, Jura also makes fresh, light Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, along with Poulsard and Trousseau, two local red grapes rarely found elsewhere.
