Epanomi is a small coastal wine district near Thessaloniki in northern Greece, credited with the modern revival of Malagousia — a nearly extinct aromatic white grape rescued from near-obsolescence by a single producer in the 1970s and now planted across Greece. The area's sandy coastal soils and maritime influence suit fresh, perfumed whites more than the powerful reds found further inland.
