Weingut Zahel 'Ried Reisberg Maurerberg' Riesling
Zahel make a huge range of wines, all organic and pretty much hands off and mostly from what we have tried quite delicious. This is a cracking and very individual style of Riesling. Honey, peach, beeswax, mealy notes, spice on a very interestng nose. On the palate it's rich and textural, off-dry and with bags of peachy fruit, again honey, spice even a hint of caramel and yet its fresh. Would make a fabulous food wine, am sure great with Asian food with lots of chilli and ginger, but could work with smoked foods too, cheeses, the list goes on. Fascinating, yet retaining that crucial drinkability!
