La Val Finca Arantei Albarino
75cl
The Albariño grapes for this wine are sourced from the single Arantei estate at the extreme south of Condado de Te. Arantei is a 35 hectare vineyard, around 22 years old, located in the old river bed - where pebbles are a main feature in the rich clay and mineral soil. It has a southerly aspect, aiding ripening. Harvesting is by hand, with careful grape selection. The grapes are destemmed, undergo a 6 hour cold maceration at 10ºC (to add texture to the wine), and are then fermented using natural yeasts in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The wine is rested on its lees for at least 3 months before bottling, with regular batonnage.
Lifted, floral aromas of citrus and peach. Minerality on the palate is balanced by stone fruit, lime and white spice - giving a long, crisp and zesty finish. Classy Albarino that's a cut above many.
