Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir
This is a fabulous wine from Danbury Ridge Wine Estate, with amazing vineyards in a unique microclimate in Danbury, Essex. They achieve natural ripeness of at least 13% every vintage so far, even in cooler wetter years like 2019, and to an extent the late Summer/early Autumn of 2020.
This, as do all the releases from 2018, take English still wine to a new quality level.
From young vines this is really quite something, 13.5% natural alcohol, aged in c 33% new French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Served blind i would put this as really high quality California, maybe Oregon or good Burgundy.
Coffee and raspberry with spice and oak on the nose. Medium bodied, fresh and vibrant, lovely red berry fruit with a just a hint of whole bunch greenness. Hints of orange too on a long, bright finish with ripe tannins and god acidity. Lovely wine.
