Casa da Passarella 'A Descoberta' Dao
A blend of 30% Touriga Nacional, 30% Jaen, 20% Alfrocheiro and 20% Tinta Roriz from high altitude (700-800 metres above sea level) grown on granitic soils in Dão, north central Portugal. It is unoaked, with a nose of cherry jam, liquorice, violet, blackcurrant and dried herbs. Full of classic Portuguese characters - fruit flavours that are slightly baked yet not losing freshness and a combination of both floral (violet) and savoury (liquorice) complexity that provides levity yet remains appetisingly dry. Would be great with some slow cooked pork and or more rustic game dishes.
