Boschkloof Syrah
75cl
Located just outside the gorgeous town of Stellenbosch, Boschkloof Farm has been quietly making some of the finest wines in South Africa since 1996. Started by patriarch and extraordinary winemaker Jacques Borman, the winemaking has subsequently been handed off to the second generation and one of South Africa’s most promising young winemakers Reenen Borman. Father and Son winemakers Jacques and Reenen Borman run their family business together. Their small farm, Boschkloof is situated in rolling hills, near Stellenbosch. The mixed soil, with mainly Hutton top-soil and deeper layers of shale, gravel and clay, is perfectly suited for this boutique wine producer. Their philosophy is one of low yield vines that produce high quality fruit which they hand harvest and vinify with minimum intervention in Stainless steel and French Oak. The quest at Boschkloof is to make the best wine that their sacred terroir will produce. In fact, on every bottle, the Latin phrase “inconcessum persequor” is found. This translates into “I pursue the unattainable” and between the slopes of the beautiful Stellenbosch valley in South Africa, the Borman family pursue to perfect the art of winemaking.
Complex and attractive bouquet of oriental spices with pronounced violet and white pepper flavours. It has lovely ripe fruit and a perfumed background on the bouquet. There are also lovely integrated and velvety tannins on the palate. Well balanced wine with spicy overtones and a lingering finish. Very classic style with unmistakable Rhone flavours.
